What is the BionX system?
BionX is an energy management system that provides power-assist that is proportional to the rider's effort. Therefore you remain in control and can request power-assist from the motor only when you need it, according to the energy level you want to spend and distance you wish to cover. With BionX, your bike remains a bike and riding remains a sport.
On what wheel size can it be installed?
The BionX system can be installed on all wheel sizes, with standard 135mm drop-out. Disc brake compatible.
Please note that Bionx systems require a thread-on freewheel for rear wheel gearing. If you are unsure as to what size freewheel is needed, simply count the number of sprockets on the rear wheel, when ordering select an appropriate gear offering from our options drop-down menu.
For whom did you design the assisted bicycle?
The BionX system was designed for those who wish to increase their riding experience. Men and women who:
find it difficult to ride uphill or against the wind
want a good workout (4 generative settings)
want to ride longer
want to avoid traffic when traveling to work
want to ride with a group and maintain their speed (without struggling at the back of the pack)

How does the BionX system work?
You can use your bicycle like any other bicycle. When you feel the need to do so, simply activate the control console. The system will then boost your thrusting power by 25%, 50%, 100%, or 200%.
Since the BionX system is equipped with a battery charge indicator, you can manage the energy required to travel the desired distance without worrying about running out of energy on the return trip.
Recharging the BionX battery is easy
The BionX system includes a charger which can be plugged into any ordinary power outlet. At any given time you can see the state of the battery ie. if it is being recharged or if the battery is full. The battery can be removed from the bicycle to be recharged.
Once removed the battery must be stored in a dry, well ventilated area at room temperature.
Up to what speed can the system assist me?
For Canadian orders, Canadian legislation allows BionX to assist riders up to 32 kph. The system will therefore assist you up to this speed. You can ride faster by pedalling as you would with a conventional bicycle.
Your BionX assisted bicycle will fit on a regular bicycle rack.
Yes. The BionX system is one of the lightest on the market (7.6 kg – 16.7 lbs), you can easily secure your bicycle to any bicycle rack. Also, by removing the battery, you simply have the the weight of the motor 3.5 kg (7.7 lbs)
